Ranjana
conducts training programmes of various durations and types according to the needs
of her students. Regular Classes Regular classes are
conducted twice a week, one hour per batch. The students appear for the Gandharva
Mahavidyalaya examinations, and to obtain a degree, have to pass seven examinations.
Advance Training Advance training is organised for
senior students also. These students normally take basic training from other gurus
and then approach Ranjana for special advanced guidance to groom them for the
performance.
Special Workshops These
classes are for new learners or existing learners.
A)
The schedule includes, introducing this dance form to them and teaching them
the basic steps. This helps parents to know whether their child is interested
in kathak [a classical dance] or not. This course can be of three, five or seven
days, spanning two hours per session. Two sessions of such workshops are also
conducted daily.
B)As far as the existing
learners are concerned, Ranjana teaches them special items for example "Tarana",
"Sargam" or "Vandana".
She also give them recorded
audio cassettes of these items which in helps the students to practice and perform
whenever they can.
These special workshops spread over four hours for
a period of at least three days.
